quenched consciousness

A blog exploring the work of Jean Giraud, aka Gir, aka Moebius. Basically, there didn't seem to be any places online that gave a comprehensive collection of his work, so I made one.

[The official site of Moebius] - While there are very few of his works available to an English-only audience, the last thing I want to do is take away from potential sales by hosting his work here. If you speak French and can enjoy his books the way they were originally meant to be enjoyed, please click over and show him some love.

Blueberry(2004) (renamed Renegade in the US) - full film

It’s not very good, but hey when has that stopped someone who is a fan of something? Here’s what I said when someone asked me about it previously:

Yeesh, it’s sort of a wreck. A part of me likes what a wacky cast it has: Vincent Cassel attempting an American accent(and failing very miserably), Michael Madsen as the villain, the weird teamup of Eddie Izzard and Djimon Hounsou, Juliette Lewis, and a barely awake Ernest Borgnine. I mean, that’s enough to justify watching it, right? I remember the hallucination sequences being impressive. But YEESH, none of that comes together. The whole film feels flat, and I never care about what anybody is doing at any moment.

In this episode of Tac au tac from 1972, Jean Giraud puts on his Gir hat to make a western jam comic with his mentor Joseph Gillain, better known as Jijé. Hugo Pratt is also there, hanging out and watching.
