Hey there, Im an avid follower of your blog, and apparently dependent on it at this point; I'm aching to find out what happened to Stel and Atana after Upon a Star, Gardens, The Goddess, then Stel. According to Wikipedia, there are more after that, and I was wondering if you had any of these. Or, if you could point me in the direction of a good source by which I could obtain them... THANKS!!! I'll stay addicted to your blog at any rate...
Here are some links to other Stel and Atan stories. These don’t take place after Stel though, they’re just side stories, but they’re very good:
-The Repairmen: a prequel to Upon a Star made in between Upon a Star and The Gardens of Aedena.
-Les Reparateurs(The Repairmen): Okay, this one is called The Repairmen too. Yeah, confusing. This, along with La Planète Encore, comprise the fifth French album in the Aedena Cycle, which is just called Les réparateurs. I recommend everyone buy this in its currently in-print form, either from Casterman’s website or Amazon, since the book is entirely silent.
There is one more major Aedena Cycle work, which is called Sra. It is the final book, and concludes the Stel and Atan story. It has never been offically translated into English… but…
I might just have an English version of it that I might just be posting in the next couple of months. So there you go!
This is not a post, but a response to your ROMA-AMOR post. I believe the drawings Moebius made in the notebook were collected and published as VIAMOR. All the drawings in your post are in the book. Thanks for doing what you’re doing. It has rekindled my love for Jean Giraud’s art. Best, Jeroen.
... at this time, he had a 2CV car, a non expensive car easy to break and somebody stole the illustrations in his car. So he had to draw very fast a new serie of illustrations. Dionnet claims the first ones were much more brilliant than the ones we know :-) The original illustrations were never reseen.
That story is tragic and excellent at the same time. Sounds pretty conclusive, so I’ll fix the original post to date it at 1980.
Well, it's easy to find :-) Just Google the title of the book and you will find the date of publication. The illustrations were published in 30*30 book (Les Humanoïdes Associés) published in 1980. I'm not sure Moebius met Appel-Guéry at this time when he drew these illustrations. There is a story about these illustrations: Moebius made the work, show the finished drawings to Dionnet who was amazed and put them in his car... (to follow)
Parapsychologie et Vous was published in France in 1980. So it's not really a 1986 work...
Huh, okay. I was getting some conflicting information on this one. In Moebius Comics #1, Jean-Marc & Randy Lofficier say that Moebius met the authors through Appel-Guery in 1980, and released Parapsychologie a few years later. But in one of the Moebius art books(I think it’s Chaos?), it dates all the Parapsychologie illustrations at 1986.
So I’m uncertain, but li-an has always been reliable when it comes to correcting me.
